MY COSTS

If you would like me to send your LPAs to your Attorneys (no more than two) then add £25 plus postage costs.  If you have more than two attorneys to whom you need me to send the document then add £10 plus postage costs for each additional attorney over two.

If you would like me to send your LPAs to the Office of the Public Guardian for registration then add £15 plus postage costs.

That’s it! No hidden charges or VAT.

At least half of my fee is due at the outset.  The remaining half is due at or before our meeting when you sign the documents.

There are two costs of setting up LPAs; my costs for preparing the documents for you and the cost of registration.

Single Will (standard)

£ 99

Mirror Wills for a couple (standard)

£ 149

Asset Protection Wills for a couple

From £ 350

One LPA

£ 149

Two LPAs

£ 249

Four LPAs

LPA REGISTRATION COSTS

It costs £82 to register one LPA.  So if a couple want to register both types of LPA then the cost of registering the four documents is £328.

If however an individual earns less than £12,000 gross per annum or is in receipt of means tested benefits then it may be possible to apply for a fee reduction or even an exemption.  Please let me know if this is the case.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
  • Taking your instructions either in person, by phone or by email
  • Drafting the documents
  • Sending the documents to you by email with explanatory letter
  • Amending any spelling mistakes or any other errors to ensure the documents meet with your full satisfaction.
  • Meeting with you (either in person or via Skype) to go through the documents and to facilitate the signing of the same; witnessing your signature and also that of your Attorneys and Replacement Attorneys (if present) and acting as your Certificate provider; explaining to you how and where your Attorneys and Replacement attorneys need to sign.
  • Checking the documents fully for you once they have been signed and returned by the Attorneys and Replacement Attorneys i.e. checking that the documents are ready for registration.
  • Drafting a covering letter to the Office of the Public Guardian for you to send your documents and cheque for registration.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

I do not get involved in sending documents to the Attorneys and Replacement attorneys for signature, unless you opt for that additional service.  You will need to ensure you have an appropriate envelope and have paid the correct postage. I would recommend sending them recorded delivery.

Likewise when returning the documents by post, your Attorneys and Replacement Attorneys will have to ensure they reach you safely.  I would always suggest recorded delivery.

I cannot be held responsible for lost documents.  I reserve the right to charge a small fee not exceeding £75 if I have to meet you again to sign new documents.

Nor do I get involved in sending the final documents to the Office of the Public Guardian, unless you opt for this additional service and again you will need to ensure the documents reach them safely.  I do however provide you with a covering letter to accompany your documents and registration cheque.

DISCLAIMER

Very occasionally LPAs are returned by the Office of the Public Guardian because there is a mistake in them.  If this is the case, the OPG will require fresh documents to be prepared and they will require the fee to be paid again.  I will cover the cost of this fresh application IF and ONLY IF I have checked the FULLY COMPLETED AND SIGNED DOCUMENTS prior to registration, in which case the fault is mine.  If you decide to send the documents without asking me to check them then I will not be held responsible if they are rejected by the OPG.

Further, as stated above, I cannot be responsible for any documents lost in the post (for example if you have decided not to send them recorded delivery or if you have not paid the correct postage).  The documents will need signing again and as mentioned above I reserve the right to charge a small fee not exceeding £75.

You are my client.  Your Attorneys and Replacement Attorneys are not my clients.  I am not therefore able to give advice to them.  Nor will I be held responsible if the role of Attorney becomes too onerous for them or isn’t how they imagined.  There is a great deal of information about LPAs on the DirectGov and OPG websites.
